Over the past few weeks, online blogs have been posting a list given to orientation leaders at James Madison University titled, "35 Dumb Things Well-Intended People Say: Surprising Things We Say that Widen the Diversity Gap."
The Daily Caller, a conservative-leaning site, even went as far to say the statements listed "were not to be uttered" by orientation leaders, and that the list somehow targeted students who were Christian.
But an official at the university debunked this notion on Tuesday.
"You can't believe everything that you read on the internet," said Bill Wyatt, the Director of Communications at JMU. "At James Madison, we honor free speech. This is not a speech code in any way."
